Default 2003 400 owners, You guys fouling plugs?

I just bought this off ebay and got it home today and ran it for 4-5 miles, ran great and started easy, then it started sputtering and then died, wouldnt start again. Yes I have gas in it...lol, The guy had some off brand plug in it, Not NGK. Tried cleaning it but still wouldnt work. Went to 3 parts stores and nobody had the plug, had to order it. Anyway this bike has 85 miles on it and apparently has already had 1 plug changed since it wasnt an NGK in it. The plug was dry and brown looking, not wet like a fouled plug.

Just curious, are the 03 400's hard on plugs?

Thanks

My '03 has 1600 miles on the original plug. Guess I'd have to say they aren't hard on plugs.

I would hazzard to quess that the reason for such low miles is the carb is screwed. Sounds like rebuild time.

Thanks guys but I found the prob. A wire had slipped off of some part under the gas tank up by the front, (proly during high pressure washing) not sure what it was but runs like a top now.
Thanks
