tonight i was attempting to tow my friend outta the snow, and when i was 'unreeling' the winch it got to the end and literally just came out as if it wasnteven attatched. it's a 1500LB. winch and it's not worth a dime

 

talk about a rip off.

 

Never heard of a winch that allowed this to happen, then again never heard of a winch that recommended you pull more than down to the last layer on the spool.

 

I'm pretty sure that the winch that came with the 650's is a 2500 lb winch and as Bear said earlier, you dont take it down to the end of the cable. You want to leave a few wraps on the cable spool.

 

...You unspooled the cable all the way and now the ENTIRE thing is a hunk of junk? Bearings, motor and everything?

The question is, if you leave the last wraps on the drum as recommended, does it PULL? Who makes this piece of junk?

 

if it is a piece of junk, i'll give ya $50 bucks for it.

i wasnt goin to tow with it all the way out. i was letting all of it out cuz i knew it wasnt long enough to reach what i was trying to connect to, so i let it all out, and was planning on reeling it in a few turns, and attatching a rope to the hook and tieing that to the other quad. i took it all apart today and slid the cable back through the holes and replaced the setscrew because that was gone. I know not to tow with it at the end. - it's fixed now. -- and no the bearrings/motor etc. werent bad but when i wrote this post, i was pissed cuz it literally just fell out.
