question for 2005 AC650 owners

The CDI box is the brain for the Engine/Trans. It is like the one on a car. It decides what the timing needs to be, spark, belt position. It is not on the 500 TRV because the 650 is a kawi engine/trans setup. The 500 TRV is a Suzuki setup. Limp mode is designed so that if you sink your 650 and get water in the belt it limits the revs so you don't burn your belt up. It's actually a very nice feature if it works correctly. However, this was not the case originally, BUT it has been fixed. That is one thing I have been impressed with about Arctic Cat, they fix stuff pretty quick from model to model.
You see the problem was that the computer (CDI Box) thought there was a belt problem do to the electrical interferance. Once the Noise Filter is plugged in the interferance (noise) is filtered out so that the CDI can get an accurate reading of what is actually going on.

Hey, I just happen to have driven the 04 and 05 650. The braking has been improved because they changed out the remote brake cylinder under the right rear fender to a better design which causes rear braking to be better. You can stomp it now and swing the rearend around. As for the limp mode that is not a bad thing, it was just not funtioning correctly before, but it has been fixed.

i found that limp mode is a very very very annoying feature that is why i bought the dynatek cdi which took care of any future limp mode problems permanently unless i get a freyed belt and it trips the switch inside the belt housing. i am selling my 04 650 and if someone tries talking me down in price i am letting it go with the stock cdi so i might have a dynatek cdi up for sale soon. p.s. i love my wheeler and i am only going to yamaha for 1 year and coming back to arctic cat i drove the rhino today and fell in love so when arctic comes out with a side by side i will be back. and in the mean time if you wanna know anything bout the 650 cats well i will be here

If you mean jetting the carb for a higher elevation, I have never done that. I don't really change elevations around here. I live in Benton, we are pretty much just down in the bottoms throwing mud around. However I am sure it would be to your advantage to rejet there in Washington since the air is thinner in many places. I had a friend that took his bike to Colorado and he put the kit in, but he said he could only drive it there and when he came back he had to change it right back out. That is pretty much the extend of my knowledge on the topic. If you would like for me to find out more I could do that.

sorry lim lol actually in a sick and twisted sense i kinda hope i have trouble with the yami so then next year i will be back for good. i have driven alot of the big bores and most atv's made well the 4x4's and utilities and the 650 arctic cat has been the best atv i have ever driven. right now i am thinking bout keeping my 650 plus buying a rhino but dang that is alot of money and i can only drive one at a time and if i keep my 650 another year i will have over 3000 miles on it easily then i wouldn't get nothing for it anyways. i guess i am between a rock and a hard place. but if arctic comes up with a decent side by side for next year bye bye yami.

AWESOME NEWS!!! They Shipped out our new 650 H1 LE yesterday. We should get it tomorrow. I can't wait to crank that baby up and see what an actual Arctic Cat engine can do. I will report back in and let you guys know what we think about it. I will probably post a new Thread about it.
