I have a 02 Chev 4X4 and I was driving through the bush and a tree knocked my mirror off, now the question is this who should I sue the tree or Chev, because i know it was a design flaw because of the way the mirrors stick out.

THANKS to you guys and the discussion on the 400 oil cooler I made a guard from 2x2x1/8 alum. angle to protect my 04's cooler. I've got about $30 and a few hours labor in it but I now have a good place to mount some extra lights for nite rides.

Huhh, a place for extra lights, man I like that idea. I have been thinking about a new 400 and had planned on making a stick guard for the cooler + a set for my buddy who already has an 05 400. No big deal, we just tend to do a lot of trail blazing so we tend to bugger up things fron time to time. Back to the lights, we also do a fair amount of night rides. I have a removable light bar I clamp on my 01 for that personal horizon effect. Everytime I look at a later model Cat I catch myself trying to decide where to mount somehting that looks fitting for a new quad and not my old beater.

If I were you I would sue the tree. GM has a lot of lawyers.

Well first I'd like to thank BigThicket for bringing this subject up. I just signed onto this board, oh, about 10 minutes ago, and I did so to learn more about the 2005 400 auto that I want to purchase. I currently have a 1987 Honda FourTrax 350d that has served me well and other than change the oil regularly and replaced 2 fuel pumps, she has been a true work horse on the farm and in the woods. Now let me explain that I hog hunt with that machine. I have a dog carrier on the back rack that holds four dogs and I live in South Texas. Now, for those of you that have never visited this part of the country, let me tell you, it ain't very atv friendly. I drive my Honda, up, over, and through brush, cactus, small trees, whatever is in the way. Now I don't do it in an aggressive manner, the machine still has all the original fenders and parts and looks like new. But we ride atv's down here to get us to where we want to go, period! So I find the comment,

{Now I di do believe if u looked in safty manuals some where it would say u were riding where u shouldn't...but we all know we all rtide in plases we shouldnt........if cat knew u were riding in rough terain they would viod your warranty anyway..}

very informative. I didn't know they (Arctic Cat) put stipulations on the bike before you bought it? So thank you all for letting me know this. My salesman has thus far omitted the part about how I'd be limited to manicured pathways or the warranty would be null and void. Very interesting? I guess I may have given up on Hondas too soon, and darn it, I was all excited about the 400. Now I see why Arctic Cat has such a bad rep down here, they weren't intended for real off road use to begin with?
And no, if a stick caused the damage, I would not sue, it would be my responsiblilty to fix it. But, on the other hand, if AC could prevent the damage from happening on other bikes in the future, shouldn't they be willing to look into it?

For a first time poster you seem to know it all. I have over a 1000 miles on my 2005 400 Cat and most of it trail riding and quite a bit of cross crounty stuff and haven't had a problem with anything into the oil cooler. Maybe because I go slow enough to see if something is gonna jam into something important. Besides this is an old thread and no one else has ever brought the issue back up, so it would seem there isn't one except in the troll's mind.

I think your shorts are on a little too tight there Bear, try the next size larger. Might help relieve the tension a bit?
Yeah, if I'd have read this 2 months ago I guess it would have helped huh? But you missed the part where I said I just registered, but hey, no biggie. We all make mistakes. And what's with the troll's mind? That a Yankee thing or something? And why are you so quick to call people names? Did I call anyone a name, was I rude in my post? Was I loud and abrasive? Forgive me if you thought that was the case, I merely made mention of the fact that it was commented on the fact that to take the Arctic Cat through heavy brush (or words to that affect) would void the warranty? And I'm sorry to say, but we don't have many trails down here, we have to make them. And that means going through brush and lots of it. We don't just ride them for Sunday strolls along marked trails. We use them as tools, a means of transportation. And like I said, I'm not reckless, I don't blaze a trail at 40 mph. My bike is intact and in near show room condition. And all my friends have been ******* me because I want an Arctic Cat. I've been bragging about the AC's and their warranty for weeks now. They come up with a multitude of excuses, telling me how crappy they are. So, to prove them wrong, I've researched all 400 models and had pretty much chosen the 400 auto. Test drove it Monday and loved it. And today I stumble on this website and again, I'm excited because I can come on here and learn more about the bike. Then I read this post and all of the negative comments. Again, I have never stuck a stick through the cooler and wouldn't complain if I did. But I was on my hands and knees Monday, with my head stuck up in the front end checking out that area just for that reason. Sticks and brush are a given in my type of riding. Do I do it to try and tear up my new $5000+ plus ATV? Heck no, I want to take care of it as best I can but I also expect it to get me to where I want to go. So lighten up a little will ya, I never attacked you. I have no reason to come on this board or any other and start problems. Not my intention or desire.
And I wasn't aware of a time limit on responding to posts? Thanks for letting me know the rules.
