AC 250-300 Owners?
I am looking into getting a 150-300cc ATV for my daughters. I have been looking at the AC 90 and it is too small. I have also looked at the AC 250 and 300 machines in 2X4 and 4x4. Suzuki 250 Ozark, and the Yamerha Bruin.
What I am wondering is if you guys who own an AC 250 or 300 would you reccomend it as a machine for my daughters? (ages 11-15) They have experience driving thr TRV and my 400 in conrolled situations with me or my wife as a passeger. I am not looking for a machine to turn them loose on, rather one they can grow into while learning more riding skills and continue to use 5-10yrs from now (instead of out growing).
I am trying to talk the wife into just getting another TRV. But, for about half the $6700 price of the TRV I can get a Suzuki Ozark which I know my daughters can handle well. I just thought I would look into a 250 4x4.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and opions.

AC 250-300 Owners?
I really liked my AC 250 2X4 and only once got it stuck and the moron driving at the time was at fault. My wife, who is 5"4" rode 2 up with me on it. When we upgraded to the new 400, she decided she wanted to ride by herself. The 250 stayed and she has enjoyed it without having had any problems. Her comments are that it has more than enough power for what she wants to do. It is enough smaller than the 400 so that she does not encounter the problems with tight turn on trails around and between stumps and trees. It is big enough and stable enough that she feels comfortable on it. As to the 11 year old being able to handle it, depends on her size as the 250 is still biger than an Ozark, even it the have the same drive train. The Ac out weighs the Ozark by more than 100 lbs and is taller, wider, longer, longer suspension travel, bigger tires, hydraulic brakes front and rear, bigger carb, almost double the fuel capacity and with a higher rack capacity. Yes, the cat is a better machine IMHO.

I have a 300 4x4 and am very happy with it. I also think that it would be a great machine for your daughters and would be one that they would not outgrow quickly. The Ozark would be a little more maneuverable and a little quicker, maybe considered a little better for light trail riding. The Cat would be far superior in any rougher conditions. I have been amazed at what it can get through for a small 4x4. I'm sure part of your decision will be based on what type of riding you expect them to be doing in the future also.
Hope that helps.

AC 250-300 Owners?
I have an '03 250 4x4 and I like it. I chose this one over the 300 mostly because the engine is only like 34cc's smaller and the price I paid was almost like I stole it and my intended use for it. I think for being in the 250-300 class, these arctic cat's are just about the only utility atv's in their class, at least they should be. By this I mean, the 250 and 300 have most of the features as their bigger brothers; rack capacity, gas tank, etc. Sorry to repeat what was said above, but let the facts and features speak for themselves. Good luck with you decision!!

We have got a 300 thats all in all been ok.You did not mention if an auto was ok?? I personally would go with the Bruin if it is still a consideration. It's got the old Big Bear engine which cannot be killed ( had an 88 for years). They use the Kodiak chassis but keep it simple with the air cooled engine. The drive is IMO the best belt drive out there and there is no reason to be afraid of it.I had a Kodiak and put 3k miles on it and it was rock solid.
The one thing I do not like about the cat is the heel to toe shifter.....now I know guys are going to say....oh you get used to it and they might but I have not.
The one nice thing about the 300 is the IRS but to kids thats probably not as important. If you want one they can grow inot and still ride as an adult size person I would have to say the Bruin.
