Sounds more like a bad dealer than a bad machine. So you blame the machine for your poor choice of dealers.

I agree with you that if the airbox was faulty and they fixed it under warranty, then they should have fixed any damage caused by it. But the dealer will either "sell" the warranty claim to AC or not and if they didn't try (and I suspect they didn't) then it is still a dealer problem.
