400 4x4 Automatic TRV vs 500 4x4 Automatic TRV
BigBlack, I am very lucky, I can ride from the house into thousands of acres of forestland laced with logging roads, power lines, gas lines and trails. Within aboutn 20 minutes of the house we have Lake Cushman/Dow mountain ATV riding area and the forest lands trailheaded out of the Mason County Fairgrounds (only God knows how many miles of trails, hundreds at least. Then an hour out we have Tahuya (north) and Capitol (south) State Forest with more miles of trails. We are in the process of getting the National Forest Service to open up 1,197 miles of non-maintained roads to riding. We are pretty spoiled for places to ride, that's for sure.
One of the other older guys I ride with a lot has a 660R and he is magic with it (combo of knowing which gear and how much throttle to apply and body english). We went snow riding in the mountains last Dec. and he got farther than several of the utes. He never got towed all day ( did roll it on it's side once) and only one other ute (a Rincon) and myself didn't get stuck and that ain't easy in 3 feet of snow we got in to above 3000 feet.
My wife rides the 250 with me and 2nd gear is about it for speed with very short bumps in to 3rd on wide gravel roads or pavement only. When she took her ATV safety course they wanted a high speed run then nail the brakes, 20 mph and she would stop. They insisted she go fast and her response was 'This is as fast as I go!". I fell out of may chair laughing. But I will give her this; when we go trail riding, she goes where I go and loves it.
