Default Newbe w/question on 650V2

Been lurking for quite awhile. Time to join. Got a few questions for this very knowledgeable group.

Bought my first quad, a 300 several years ago. It was a test to see if AC was the one (it was). Two years ago bought a new 03' 500i AC and liked it even more. Two weeks ago sold the 300 and bought a new '06 650V2.

Questions.
- There seems to be a lot of mechanial whine coming from the foward part of the bike, somewhat reduced when 4x4 is engaged. It's loud, a lot louder than any mechanical noise coming from the 500. Seems to be about the same under power or trailing throttle. Is this normal? Will it go away as I accumulate miles (only about 15 so far).
- Does the '06 model have the initial ignition retard like the '04-'05s? IOW would it benefit from a performance CDI?
- Both the 300 and the 500 continued to run better (and faster) with more miles. In fact the 500 continues to "feel" like it is gatting faster and running "better" with slightly over 1000 miles. Can I expect the same w/the 650?

I'm at about 7500 feet and both machines are jetted for the altitude. The 500 has an EPI clutch kit, the 650 is bone stock.

Thanks guys...

The noise you are hearing could be several thing I'd bet that its just the tanny or front dif. since everyhting is new it's probably a little tight still. On the cdi all of the v2 will benefit from a cdi box improved acceration better top end with certain boxes, bypass limp mode on 04's, btpass reverese overdrive button, and a raised rev limiter.

Welcome Gamer! First thing you need to do with the V2 is get a Dynatek (sp) CDI. I think they are around $225. Otherwise, just break it in and all should be good! Good luck!

You are hearing the square cut gears in the tranny I figure,a normal noise with the kawi tranny.VDI make a module (as do many others),velocitydevices.com,they work the same as all the rest and cheaper to boot.
The 650s run good right off the bat so it is kinda hard to tell.I modded my muffler, installed a VDI snorkle,VDI module and re-jetted,runs real good now.
