clutch setup on 05 650
I have a 650 stock tires and I have about 325 miles on it and everything is ok but at times it can feel a bit jerky when you start to move. My ? is what is the best clutch setup out there with the springs by epi I also seen a set from High lifter. Will I need any special tools? Take in mind I really dont plan on putting on super swampers but my be 26" 589's when that times comes. I just want to keep that belt from slipping and not driving in low all the time. Thanks for any input it would help much. Thanks

I have an 05 650 V2 also with about 350 miles, and I can partially answer your question. The most important thing you can do to keep the belt from slipping is to keep the belt in proper deflection. I checked mine at about 225 miles and it measured about 27mm, and it should be between 22 and 27 mm. I removed the secondary clutch and removed one shim to bring it down to 22mm. I have noticed a very slight shimmering occasionally when taking off in high also, but I don't know if that's due to the belt or not, but I don't think so. I have not changed clutch springs at this point and probably won't because I am going to stick to the stock tire size, but from what I read the epi black secondary and pink primary are what people are using for the 26 inch tires. As far as special tools you need something to hold the primary and secondary clutches to remove the bolts, or you could use an impact wrench. You also need a tool to get into the secondary clutch to remove shims or change the spring, but you can make this tool from stuff you can get at any hardware store. There is a site called Nyroc's website that has tons of info on this in the Kawi 650 section, if your going to do it yourself, take a look at that site.
In summary, keep the belt in specs, check it about every 500 miles, aftermarket springs optional for 26 inch tires. Oh, and don't pull any heavy loads in reverse!
Hope this helps
