Cougars are SCARCE in Mn. Don't shoot them. I always like to know I live in a state with a nice variety of wildlife.</end quote></div>
We saw one run across the road last spring when we were driving to our entry point in the BWCAW. Big MFer!
They're so rare your supposed to call and report them to DNR every time you see one, right?

From the DNR:
The cougar, also known as mountain lion or Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word , was never common in Minnesota but probably ranged over most of the state before it was settled. The last mountain lion taken in Minnesota was killed in Becker County, 1897. In recent years, there have been several reports based on sightings and tracks, especially north of Duluth.
Largest of the North American cats, the cougar may weigh over 200 pounds and measure nearly eight feet long. It usually preys upon deer, but also eats small rodents and rabbits.
Cougars apparently breed once every two to three years and produce litters of one to six kittens. The young are born with spotted coats which eventually fade as the animals turn a tawny brown.

Hey dudes!!!!! Just batteling some floods over here, our house is about 2 blocks from the dike, but so far it is holding good! Wife is due with the 3rd baby on Easter, and I just bought a Mercedes SL320 Still no new ATV, but someday I will get a nice one again. I want to get some of my business loans paid down a little first. I also refinanced my house and am saving $250 a month. Not too shabby! Dee, we only one the Snap on the north end of town where you met my wife, someone beat us to the punch with the south location.
