Yes - I did build it. Made about 10 of them. Not difficult. Sadly - the new TRV's are a little more of a challange then the 03-04 models. But on another note - we are working on a poor-mans adaptation of being able to convert the TRV into a TBX with minimal wrenching. A lot more work to do on that but it should be a neat deal for switching from trail riding to hunting mode.

You made ten of them? What're the chances of buying one off of ya? Maybe get a diagram of what you did? My wife and I are going to be doing quite a bit of riding this summer and that looks like just the ticket.
Thanks for any help.

I sent you the PM, but then I got to looking at the picture in detail and I'm wondering if it'll work on an 06. I know they're a little different. I've not even seen my TRV in person yet, so I'll probably have to wait. After reading your profile, it looks like you like the same sort of riding I do. Any good advice on tires? I had myself talked into Mudlites, but I'm not sure now.

Tires is a topic of great debate.
I have no complaints with the stock tires. A buddy with 589's had to put chains on to go where I did with my stock tires. A hunting party with us this year had mudlites and he had his son ride with me as his machine wasn't holding the side hills safely enough. This was on wet 6 inches of snow on wet leaves and clay pasture grass but steep inclines.
On my green TRV I replaced the tires with 26inch Carlisles from a stock AC 650 and I found the steering and handling improved. But on slippery ice and snow covered trails the guys with the 25 inch tires were out cornering me and were riding faster then I was comfortable with. Possibly the new tires changed the center of gravity and I was more top heavy. All of us have switched to the heavy duty springs for the 500i from Highlifter. Those make a huge difference. I heard that AC was going to put the heavier springs on the 06's so you may not have to.
There are riders that will swear that the stock tires are junk and should be replaced right out the door. I just havn't had that kind of negative expereince with the stock tires so I can't fully accept the need to use something different.

Thanks for the input, I do appreciate it. Think I'll do my riding this summer, then see what I think. My Dad has a 99 300 with the 489's and so far he's the only one to ride my TRV. Says he hates the tires and he's not into upgrading if it's not absolutely necessary. Beats me. Thanks for all the info.
