Default adjustment??

My 99 300 4x4 started jumping out of gear. Works fine on hard pack, only does it when under a load... i.e., deep creek crossing, getting stuck in mud, etc...It only does this in high and low range...super low range works perfect all the time.

Is there an adjustment for this, or do I need to replace some tranny parts?? And if I need to replace parts, which ones??

Default adjustment??

is it an auto or manual shift tranny, both should have an adjustment i bought an 06' ac 400 fis auto feb - 07 - 06 i've got only 122 miles on it so far the trouble i've with mine is hard shifting from reverse to newtral and low back to high and newtral. This might not help you but someone on the cat forums should be able to help, bear or someone there will have something to help. this is the only ac i've ever owned and first fully auto tranny good luck, williebee

Default adjustment??

All the 300's are manuals, no auto was ever available. The shift linkage on the older models were a cable and they were terrible and will go out of stretch or even freeze up. On my 2001 250 (same system) I updated to the new style shifter (2002 and up is a mechanical linkage) for less than the cost of a cable. The shifting is 5 times more positive and it doesn't go out of adjustment or freeze up. My manual says that jumping out of gear can also be caused by, worn or distorted shift forks, cam stopper spring weak, gearshift lever stopper pin worn or shifting gear's drive shaft or counter shaft worn.
