2004 650 V-Twin Engine Brakeing In & Out
#1
We have been trying to figure out why the EB goes in and out of operation. When it fails we disconnect the servo controler (black box next to the CDI box) with ign off and it works again. It will not return on it's own.
Owner is a veteran electrician & logical controler programmer. All wiring has been gone over, grounds secured and such.
Any ideas?

It sounds as if your kebc actuator is going out. If your 2wd 4wd lights start flashing in the future then you'll know that's the problem. If you don't ride in the mountains and need engine braking then you may want to consider pulling the braking fork from inside your belt housing. You'll still have some engine braking but not anything close to before and you will freewheel from about 5mpr or lower. You can pull the fork and get a DG6 from diamondgracing then simply unplug the actuator. The DG6 is $90 wich is far less than a new actuator. Also without the fork riding on your primary clutch you'll have better acceleration. This is just another option, good luck I hope you get it lined out.

I just thought of something else. Does the actuator chip or make any noises when the atv is shut off and the key is out? I don't mean the regular cycling of the actuator, I mean any thing out of the ordinary. If it chirps at regular intervals after everything has been shut off then you controle module is bad. I had mine go out and the dang thing would chirp every 5 seconds or so until it drained the battery. Hope any of this helps.
