Default 500 auto ?'s

I have a couple of concerns. 1) I have noticed that sometimes when shifting into gear, it does not engage completely. I get a grinding noise when I give her a little throttle, so I put it back in nuetral and then back to high and it usually works fine. Is this normal? Is there an adjustment I can make to fix this? It is a new bike with very few miles on it. 2) Should I be trail riding in low or high? Most of the trail riding is probably below 20 mph. I have been riding in high with no problems, but I recently saw that that could smoke the belt while climbing hills or under a load. I don't know if this was just on the V2 or if it is all AC's that have the belt issues. Thanks for the help.

It shouldn't grind, I needs to be adjusted. It is easy to do, but I have never done it before. Your dealer will do it for free. Also, ride in high. You don't need to use low unless you are towing something or need the better engine braking. It is only the V2's that have the low range rule. Good luck

Thanks Catterman. If anyone knows about adjusting the shift linkage, please let me know.

Mine does the same thing. I just dont give it any throttle and mash the brake when changing. It doesnt do it anymore. Just have to slow down.

sounds more like it's idleing to fast. If it's happening right after you start it up, remember that it has auto choke, wait for it to idle down. if it still does it after it's warm you probably have to turn your idle down a bit

idle it down a little bit. the idle thumb screw is on the right side up under the right panel. also if it wont shift move it forward and back with your body weight, mine does that too. no problem.
