To keep from getting mud in your face (literally)
If and when you put new tires on put fender extentions on as well if you do not have them already. Keeps the rear tires from really peppering the passenger.

My 12 year old daughter was laughing about it too until that softball sized chunk of dirt and mud with rocks in it flew up and smashed her in the face bloodied her nose and broke her gogles but it could have been worse it she was not wearing it. Made me feel like a real heel as well. Especially trying to explain the banged up nose and black eye to friends. Well you see....
That caused my wife to make me lengthen the mud flaps. So its all fun and games....

Holy cow.... !!! that is scary!
I guess I never thought of that, however the TRV has some good fenders on her. And honestly, we dont have that much mud where we go .... its mostly water/Mud.... ya know the real soupy stuff. More wet then anything
Hope youre little one was ok? And still rides with ya...

Yeah the water/mud stuff isn't as much a problem. But I was probably driving too fast and I hit some silty/gravely stuff we have on our baeches up here and started to sink fast so I turned the front wheels and pinned the throttle to keep from getting stuck.
Next thing I know we are sliding sideways with golfball sized chunks and larger of rocks/silt flying all over. We then drove into this roster olf ******. I got hit too but it only left welts on me.
I eltended the fender flaps about another 5inches. Haven't had a problem since. It did not slow my daughter down too much but was kind of tough to explain to people.
I think I have about 6500+ miles on my TRV. Not really sure as my odometer/spedo broke around 1000miles. Never bothered to fix it as the drive gear for the speedo broke in the tranny. Have to tear it down and split the case to fix. So I installed an hour meter for maintenance purposes it says about 115 hours.
I actully prefer to take it through deep water with a passenger on board. When you go fast the rear fenders catch the water and bring it up into your passengers lap if the driver stands up. Except the wife did not appreciate it as much as others have.

Jasmin,
We haven't rode in the Leota, Baldwin area yet. Usually just break the law and ride manistee forest seasonal rodes, and power lines near our home.
We plan on riding in Baldwin this year.

They laughed after I told them,,,,,some of the Women are like" Why would you even want to play like that" rofl.. Women!
