new cat in the pride

Hey, sorry to laugh. Believe it or not, but I've done the same darned thing. I had just installed my spring spacers, along with the 27" Bi/Tri Claws, and thought I'd be cool, go running up towards my buddies, then spin around in front of them, and come to a stop. Well, as I went into the spin, my 'Cat continued on through, leaving me in the dirt at their feet! My 'Cat kept right on it's path, and up a tree, while I was lying on the ground at their feet with them laughing to beat hell. Luckily it was just a small tree she went into, probably about 3-4" in diameter, so it it just crawled up enough to bend it over and get hung up before it stopped. I have to admit, other than a bruised and bleeding hip, it was pretty funny. I must say now I always tend to lean heavy into hard turns, really get up on the front end. That way, I can use my legs to "kick" the back end out to break it loose. The 'Claws just have too much traction for sliding and such. On a side note, seems to be a lot of Texas guys lately with AC's. Pretty cool to see them that far south.
GerrBear:
What pressure were those Buggs at to get 26" in heigth, but only 10.6" wide for a 12" claimed rating? Just curious what the 10" wide tires actually measure, if the 12" only measure 10.6".

Cowboy:
The Mud Bugs are at 7psi, the pressure Maxxis recommends. It's a little high for such a tire.
I dropped them down to 5psi and they now measure 25.9" x 10.6". Didn't change much.
The reason for them measuring 26x10.6 is because of the small 6.5" rim width. The narrow rim squeezes(or balloons) the tires gaining height but losing width. I would probably get close to the claimed 12" tire width if I had 8" wide rims.
As for the 26x10-12 Buggs...I've seen them at a shop mounted on AC 6.5" rims. They looked to be just under 9" wide. They looked pretty tall though.
I'll post some pictures next month.

waco4whlr,
very pleased to meet another good ole boy from texas, i truly love my cat, i look at it in admiration from time to time. i feel weird though, you know, feeling that way toward a machine but, one thing's for sure, it will never ask me if its tires make it look fat, complain about not getting a ring for its birthday, or accuse me of checking out another atv. in a way i wish women were like atvs--they would do anything for you and all they would ask in return is a little routine maintenance.

All right guys, I've had my AC300 4x4 now for over a month. I've put around 300 miles on it. I've been riding the heck out of it. I've taken it over lots of West Texas Mountains, through washes and gullies. I had to put slime in all the tires and couldn't be happier. No Flats yet despite cactus and mesquite thorns out the %&*. I've ridden it to some of my favorite indian camps in the mountains with my blue healer riding on the rear rack (he likes it now too). I've decided that I made the right decision with my purchase. My wife likes it so much that I may soon give it to her and get me an AC500 auto. I sure would hate to have to buy another,....NOT. Still my main complaint is with the back firing, hope it stops soon. Yall have a good Christmas...

What is the deal with all these Texas Guys? This is great. Finally, some of Southern folks are starting to see the light. Suboc - never had the backfiring problem with my 500 Auto. Previously owned a Quadrunner 500 backfired all the time. I don't know what caused it, but it only really did it when it was cooler than about 50 degrees.

TexasCat: It is nice to see some good ole boys join the ranks. Congratulations on your boys from La Grange winning the state championship. They should have to play Gatesville to see who really is the champion, but we'll never know. Good luck with the cat mines great.

Waco hugh? My brother who lives in Arlington comes down to your area all the time with a bunch of his buds to 4-wheel on Ft. Bliss. There are usually 8-10 of them and they spend several days out there riding. He has a Polaris Sportsman 500 and a Honda 300 4x4. He wants to get rid of his Polaris because of all the probs he's been having with it. Currently, he's in the process of replacing the starter and fixing the transmission. He loves the ride and power of his Polaris but not the headaches. He wants to try an Arctic Cat because of what I've told him about the ride. I bet he'll be getting a AC500 Auto if he rides one.

BTW, I'm working on a site dedicated to my AC 300 4x4.
