Wolverine Power Upgrades
What's up fellas? I just thought I might get some opinions on what I'm about to do to my Wolverine next week when all my parts come in.
So, here it goes. HotCams Stage-2 Camshaft, HotCams Valve and Spring Kit, Highlifter Outlaw Clutch Kit, 28" Maxxis Mudzillas on ITP SS-112 Alloy rims (machine/black finish), Weisco .040" 10.25:1 Piston Kit, FST Secondary Oil Cooler (mounts near oil filter in front of the crankcase), QuadBoss U-Joints, Highlifter Gearless front differential locker, Torque Stuffer, Quadworks Stage-2 Intake kit (kit includes: K&N Cone filter, K&N Pre-filter, custom Billet block-off plate, DynoJet Jet-Kit, etc...), a home-made snorkle, and an HMf slip-on pipe.
So, let's hear some opinions.

First off you really should be listing this in the Yamaha section(not Arctic Cat).
But the wolverine 350 should run pretty good set up like that i would think.
I dont know if I would go all the way up to 28" mudzilla's even with some extra power like you will have, I would be worried about being able to spin them good enough to keep them clean in the mud(just guessing that is what you are going to be doing, due to the list of parts)
with the intake kit, is it one of those that has the aluminum box or does it just use the standard intake box?
if it is the aluminum box, you will ruin the engine that way because they let water in when in deep water or mud.

And if I had an AC, I would also be wasting my money, because their resale value = nothing. Not to mention the power-to-weight ratio is way off. I have a buddy with an Artic Cat 500 and his is aweful. My Wolverine (stock) would go more places than his AC 500 would. Not to mention my old 2003 Honda Rincon 650 would destroy his AC (back when I had a Rincon). As of current I still haven't ordered any parts or done anything yet. Pulled the rear chunk on my '96 Powerstroke 4x4 and found a nice little surprise of metal shavings, so I'll have to work on it before anything else gets done. Too many projects and not enough time. I added up my Wolvy wish list, and it came out to like $3400.00. Personally I don't think the quad is worth sinkin that much money into. Might just .040" over it, and put it all back together and use that money to trade it in for a Grizzly 700-FI.
Now how about opninions?

geez , ive heard it all now! ha ha. when you say destroy,do you mean win in a race or in the mud, towing,or what? be specific. in a race i could see a wolverine winning. we all know AC isnt fast. how about in the mud? i already know you would bottom out out here in my area of trails so we would destroy you there. same with your "rincon". no ground clearence. and dont come back on here saying your rincon is special. if its stock ,it will get beat. how do i know? ive watched it plenty of times already. then there is towing. i dont think i need to go into towing details. we both know the truth there. more power, lower gears, heavier=AC. ill even add in that you may run faster on trails, not smoother but faster. there is a few more of my opinions and facts! oh and we'll do all without up grades. good day!!

Geez, I guess I stired up a hornets nest... I did not mean to raise the hair on the back of your neck - I was only poking a little fun at you for investing that much money into a machine that might not be worth putting that much into.
But the facts are the facts. If it has a straight axle on the back then without spending tons of money on tires, lift kits etc it just won't go where an AC will go. And 50mph is certainly fast enough for me on a utility vehicle.
Each to his own, I happen to like my AC and probably would not own a different brand. I think for the money spent you get a good package with AC.
There are really two kinds of people in this world, the people that own Arctic Cats and people that wish that they did, because they have to do so much upgrading just to be able to try and outdo a stock AC.... lol This should raise some hair on your neck, just poking some fun. I really don't care what you own I am happy with what I have. When it comes right down to it, the brand doesn't matter as long as you can smile and enjoy the ride. Isn't that what it is all about - having fun...
But I bet my Dad can beat your Dad up - lol..... hehehehe....

Well, I see everyone wants to push for AC. All I originally wanted was some input about my wolverine power upgrades, not a "Yamaha hate-fest!" You tell me to "grow up", why don't you grow some *****, and stop casting stones. Oh, and for the record...I NEVER called anyone names, I just stated my opinion from my past personal experiences with Artic Cat atv's. One of my buddies had one (bought it brand new) and hated it because it tore-up all the time and was a piece of junk. That is why I stated "if I had an AC, I would be wasting my money."
By the way, yes I did post this in the wrong place, because I'm new on here, and at the time, didn't have a clue what to do.
So, sorry for getting everyone pissy about this, my bad, my fault, I'm wrong...but in all reality and honest, no one's right. Because "brands of atv's are like opinions, everyone's got one, and mine's better than your's."
I'll be nice...POLARIS sucks!!!!!!!! Is that better?

it wasnt a problem coming into the wrong section. it was the respose you gave. but with all that aside, i myself can not help you with your wolverine upgrades. i am curious though of which one it is you have, 450 or 350? i was assuming 350. my wife likes/wants the 450 and was wondering how it is.
