I have a 2006 400 Artic cat. As soon as I hooked up a new Venom winch, the battery started to drain. Has anyone had this problem? I hooked up the winch according to the directions. Any help would be appreciated. Happy Riding!

 

Im not sure, i hooked mine up direct from the battery, to the contact, to the winch. I have power to it all the time, on or off and have never drained the battery. Something else must be wrong. The winch is drawing power for some reason, or you have a weak or bad battery. If you dont get help here, you will by posting on www.arcticchat.com

 

Thanks for getting back to me, yes, the original battery went dead that came with it when I bought it in April of last year a few months after I kooked up the winch, then in November I put a new Interstate in it, then that went dead. I thought when the key was off it couldn't draw from the battery, I guess I was wrong. I appreciate you advise, I will try that forum. Thanks again!

 

You can run the winch without the key being on - so I would have to say that you have a short in the winch wiring someplace.. or the switch that operates the winch is faulty and keeping an open circuit. It is a simple rocker switch, so maybe you can take it apart and have a look-see, you may have to replace the switch.
