Default MUDLITES VS 589s

Hi all,

Im looking at replacing the stock MTRs on my v2 and im thinking of either the 589s or mudlites. I heard the mudlites wear really fast and are more of a mud tire, and the 589s are more of a mud and snow tire and i do alot of plowing. What do you guys think i ride mainly trails with some mud riding and alot of plowing. I like the mudlite xtrs but there really pricey.

i have 589's and am pleased with them, my friend has the mud lites and likes them, both are good, i think the mud lites may be lighter. i got my 589's for 360.00 installed from the dealer, probably the only good deal on anything ive purchased in alaska, land of the $5.00 milk

Default MUDLITES VS 589s

i used to have 589's. good tire for mud and snow on trails, but because of the "far spaced lugs" it tended to wear fast when i plowed on pavement. so now i just switch out my stock rims and tires with my mud tires (now swamplites) when i go on the trails. on the other hand we get maybe one snow fall here a year so i only switch them once. if it were me i get the mudlites. my swamplites arent bad either.

Default MUDLITES VS 589s

hi there,
ive ridden machines with both the mudlites and the 589s. both are a good tire. the 589s i would get strictly for mud and snow use, trail use isnt that great. mudlites are great in mud, better on the trail since theres a consistent center patch also. i also have the V2 but opted for the Mudlite XTR's (extreme terrain radial). theyre kind of a hybrid between the mudlites and the 589s and are an awesome tire. i actually was riding in the ditch this winter in the snow and pulled out a polaris sled that had gotten stuck and then walked right on by. depends on what you have to spend. if you are willing to pay the money take the XTRs, they wont let you down in any situation, mud snow hardpack, they do it all. any questions PM me.

XTRs are the way to go if you can afford em. Otherwise, by the description you gave, the MudLites would probably serve you best.

Not to confuse you more but you may want to check this link out.

Decent price, free shipping, they work good in mud + snow, good trail tire too, smoothe riding, durable.

Default MUDLITES VS 589s

I put a set of 28's mudlites on my v2 and found a big difference when plowing snow. I hope they wear as good as the good year stock tires.

Default MUDLITES VS 589s

Thank you for all of the info guys.
I found some 27inch 589s on itp c series wheels for $375 with about 200 miles on them. Im going to look at them sunday. I really dont want to go bigger because of power loss and warranty i have a 5yr cat care on my machine and the notorious v2 belt issues. But i think i can deal with 27s and just put the stockers back on when serviced. Im also going to have my belt inspected this week and im thinking about a clutch kit or at least springs. My Mtrs did ok with rear chains for plowing but next year ill see how the new tires do and i might try putting screws in the stockers and running rear chains. But hey you never know i might be able to plow a few more times this year with the weather weve been having. We got 15 inchs of snow 2 days before easter and we just got 6 more today

A nice tight belt plus a couple springs will cure the problem. I have pink/black and I love it, very crisp and solid engagement.

Either will do good, I rode tons of trails with both, once was that the mudlites wore out much faster but last year ITP started making them out of the harder compound used in the 589s so now they last much longer. I run them on my V2 and love them.
