Default 2008 Arctic Cats

i thought that anything over 800cc was no longer considered an ATV and couldnt be driven on ATV trails. i believe thats what the book says at least. should find out within the week what theyre bringing out.

Default 2008 Arctic Cat 950 V2 Hemi!!!

talked to my local AC dealer, waiting for them all to come in. i just wanna test drive the 950 to see top speed, i think ill get 700 H1 EFI since thats legal to ride. 950 H2 EFI would be really nice, maybe i could swap plastic . wish they wouldnt have taken them all off the site. incase noone saw the website or my post the new ATVs are as follows (and it is official):

Thundercat 950 H2 EFI SE - arctic cats own 950 cc v-twin w/ efi comes only in silver
700 EFI H1 - arctic cats own engine in a 700 efi form
700 prowler xtx h1 w/ EFI
366 or 363 cant re cc atv also arctic cats own engine

thanks arctic cat

those of you from MN, heres what the DNR said when i asked about the 950.

me to her:
Hello,

Arctic Cat has just introduced their 2008 line-up which includes a 950cc ATV. I see that the law prohibits them from riding in the ditch, will this change with the introduction of this new atv or remain the same? Also can you use a 950cc ATV on trails that are marked for ATVs? Thanks.

her reply:

No, they would be classified as an ORV (Off Road Vehicle), not an ATV. They could only be operated where ORVs are allowed.

Here is the website for the regulations: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/regulations/ohv/index.html and here is where to find any trail information: www.findthetrails.com .

according to the DNR regulations its not an ORV but a Class 2 ATV, which still cant be operated in the ditches. not sure about trails.

The 950 Cat will be considered a Class 2 ATV and will be allowed to travel down the extreme right hand side of County and State highways per the regulations.

MN is already working on designating existing trails for Class 2 ATV's. Some of those that come to mind that might allow this Cat will be any of the rail lines, Red Top and Nemadji since many of these trails in or near these network have a fairly solid base.

I would expect states like MN with an 800cc restriction in the language of the statute would be making some sort of administrative change unless the bureaucracy is really petty, vindictive, narrow minded, obtuse, pedantic, well...you get the point....they're government bureaucrats.

It's obviously an ATV and the silly, meddling state regulations haven't kept up with the evolution of the technology. If the the bureaucrats in charge of enforcing idiocy would just use their brains they would just ignore the convoluted legalistic scribblings describing what color the sky is or what an ATV. It's obviously an ATV. Carry on.

This legalistic crap is their bread and butter.
