2003 400 auto speedo ?

Ok, first of all, i know i'm stupid for letting someone else ride my cat, even if its your brother in law. The dork rolled it on a side hill doing like, 5mph, and instead of turning down the hill, or leaning away, he just jumped off. It rolled over just once, and in slow motion, doing nothing but crushing the speedo and destroying it, everything else is fine, nothing bent, nothing cracked. He has bought me a new one, and i'm getting ready to put it on, i'm noticing now, that to get to the electrical plug for the lights ect. i have to take off the front rack and all the front plastic, cuz i can't reach it otherwise, and this looks like a lot of work for one little plug. Has anyone else done this before? Is there any easy way to get to this area of the bike?

ive replaced that speedo about 3 times, never had to take the racks off, but your harnesses might have settled further down the steering stem than mine were. if you take either front tire off, and then the inner fender plastic pieces, u might be able to reach up in there that way rather than taking the top cowl off.

ARGG...........I think i have bigger problems now.......i finally got the thing apart, plugged the new one in, put it back together, started it up, and drove it out of the garage and onto the road...........NOTHING......damn thing doesn't even light up, let alone the speedo move.......i think more is wrong than just the speedo crushed, wires/cable must be damaged too... grrrr : (
