Default 1999 Artic cat avt battery problems

Does anyone know what could drain the battery on a fourwheeler? We have put on two new batteries on the 4-wheeler, and after a couple of days, it is dead. Something is draining the power, and we have no idea what it could be. Please Help.

You have a short circuit someplace - just where I don't know

Probably the voltage regulator/rectifier. Check the voltage output first though.

Cutlas98,

You may want to look at where the wiring harness passes along the base of the steering column. The wires that go to the ignition switch are hot and the harness is prone to rub where they are jammed together there. Anotehr place to look is underneath the instrument cluster.

An easy way to track down a short is with the key off use a volt meter and follow the battery juice from the battery down the hot wire. It could be the winch selinoid or the others already mentioned. But it is definitely a short.
