A friend of mine just got an AC 375 4x4 Automatic. The first day he took it out the belt shredded. He asked me to take a look at it, and I removed the housing that covers the clutch and the pulley which connects the transmission. The belt I found in it was a Carlisle, so it's been replaced at least once before. I've never owned an automatic, and I am hoping to get a few questions answered here by those who know more than I do.

1) The drive pulley (with the centrifugal clutch) does not appear to be aligned correctly with the driven pulley. The alignment is off at least 1/8th of an inch. I'm thinking this is causing (or at least contributing to) the belt shredding. How is this problem corrected? Does one of the pulleys need to be shimmed to correct the alignment?

2) How are these pulleys removed? Each pulley has some holes in the front (drive pulley has 4 holes, driven pulley has 3 holes) where it looks like some kind of tool would be inserted to keep the pulley from turning while the nut holding the pulley on the shaft is turned off. Does this require some kind of special tool that only the dealer has, or is there an easy way to remove these pulleys that I am not aware of?

If anyone can help point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

I can't find a 375 in the parts book but you may need a model name or some thing to check out parts ,,getting the clutches off we just used an impact on are 650 prowlers ,, here is parts page to see if anything is missing or maybe it is put together wrong http://www.cyclepartsnation.co...brand/3/ArcticCat.aspx (good luck)

 

u can use an impact to take them off. i dont reccomend doin it when u install tho. there is also a clutch tool you need to pop the clutch off the crank. it screws into where the bolt would go and pushes on the crank to pop it off.
the secondary should just come off with the bolt removed.
and yes there are shims behind the clutch to set offset.
