2001 arctic 300 carb prob
hello i just purchased this atv and it wasnt starting so i took the car apart and unscrewed the jets and all inside the carb and screws they were all clogged. i assembled the carb and screw them all back. after installing everuthing new oil new plug and inline gas filter. the quad starts rigth up idles fine. but it backfires when riding and doesnt want to accel.
there is a pink hose coming out of the carb doe it go to anyting?
do the screws and jets inside the carb have a certain amount of screws (turns)
and the screw on the bottom of the car is supposed to be on tight or lose. (gas pours out when loos)
thank you

ok, that helps! then your pilot jet is too lean. locate your pilot jet. its located outside the bowl twords the engine. its a small brass skrew. if you havent cleaned it do so, but note how many turns in or out it is. clean with carb cleaner. the babbits.com online parts guide says its in air pilot. reskrew the pilot into the carb the same amount of turns you noted.
now i here is the fun part, while idoling you will need to adjust the pilot skrew in 1/4 turn at a time until you dont get anymore backfireing. iv never messed with an air pilot before, hondas are fuel pilots, but the procedure is similar.
i hope this helps!

i figured it had to be sometiing because when i took the carb apart to clean it and i unscrewed everything on the inside and screwed it all back i forgot i had to count the turns on them.
is this air pilot screw on the inside of the car or is it accessible from the ouside without taking it part?
so screw it all the way in let the bike idle and just unscrew little by little and the back firing will go away?
thanks so much for your help

rom the diagram i found you dont have to take the bowl off the carb, it is the brass skrew, slot head, on the bottom of the carb. its on the side closest the engine.
i would deffinatly take it out, counting the turns, and clean it up. if you just skrew it all the way in your engine wont get ANY air, just fuel. thats what an air pilot dose; it mixes a given amount of fuel with air. the skrew controles how much air your giveing it. turn it in 1/4 turn at a time.
no problem, good luck!

o man, i wouldnt take out the jets just to clean them. for the main jet and and slow jet i dont think so, they just skrew all the way in, but the fuel mix jet im sure you do. next time you clean out the carb, i would just spray everything down really well with carb cleaner. then look inside the jets to make sure ther is nothing in them.
to be on the safe side i would count the skrews anwyay
