Most other models I looked at parts are 10t on the pinion 36 on the ring ,mine is 11 and 34 not that much of a difference but if I am going to spend the cash then I would like to be sure it will be ok.You talk about 4.0 what do I need for that I am awaiting more used part info's.

There is a HUGE!!! Difference between the 3.1(yours) and the 3.6 (manuals)
Just like the 4.0 is a huge difference from a 3.6 even though is simply droping a tooth in the pinion gear from a 10 to a 9.

You will need the front and rear ring(36t) and pinion(9T) gears. They will be from a 06 prowler or 07 400 auto and I think a 650 V2. You cannot use just any 36t ring gear. It has to the match for the 9t. You cannot shim a standard 36t ring gear enough to make it work.

But you will also need the proper inboard cv's. You can keep your outboards and axle shafts like they are.

If you just want the 3.6 gears you will need the front left locker cv,
The front and rear ring (36T) and pinion(10t) out of a 04 650

Ok I located a front and rear diff from a 2005 500 it is the diff lock type but the front axles from a 05 and an 02 are different so I am worried my axles may not fit.Any more info given to me would be great. Why did they stop making 3.1 ratios ugh.

to high of a gear ratio. Not good on the drive train.

What you will need to do, is find some busted axles somewhere, and use the inboard joints out of a 05.

the rear, inboard joints from 05 through present are the same.
Only the front, inboards of the 05 are different.

So you basically have 4 different size joints.

02,03,04 inboards are same size, which is why i said to try and find a 04 650

05 front inboards are a one of a kind, and are a smaller size than the rear cv's of the same year model and bike (yes,2 different sizes front, to rear on the same bike) The rears of the 05 are the same as the rears on all the bikes from 05+

06) the fronts changed. They are a little bigger than the 05's, but still smaller than the rears.

OK- so, if you do get the 05 diff's, you will need 05 front inboards. The inboard joints are a breeze to swap out, and you will need 2-05+ rears.

I am having somewhat of a hard time locating any used diffs for a 650 last guy I spoke with said if he had one he probably would sell it for $600.00 seems a bit steep. I was wondering if a Suzuki diff would fit or would I have to play with axles also, any info you have would be helpful Cat thanks for your help,by the way the diffs. I locxated are from a 2006 Eiger 400.

No, the zuki diffs will not work.

600!!!!!! They best be new. You can catch them every now and then on ebay and other forums swap meet sections.

Call country cat or cat bargains. They will help you.

I think I can get you a case, and maybe the ring gear for the front.. Send me a PM and let me know what you can spend, so I will know your budget. if I get it less than what you are able to spend, i will give it to you at the price I get it for. Not looking to make any money, just trying to help you stay on the trail.
