I had the same problem with my 400. There are 6 magnets glued to the flywheel which came loose. I spoke with a local dealer's mechanic and he said he had 3 other exact cases. He had success glueing them back in place, however I need 2 magnets as mine were chipped. Does anyone know where I could get my hands on them? Also, I have a call into Artic Cat to see if they will warantee they flywheel as it cost around $400.00

I had the same problem as you and about the same date on my 2005 400 with 775 miles. I had to replace rotor with magnets ($470) and with labor and oil change (recommended) the bill was $968. Seems like the problem is common because the magnet is 1 piece now.

I just wanted to let everyone know that AC sent a new flywheel free of charge. Thats pretty good of a company to stand behind a 6 year old ATV with 3200 miles on it. I realize this is becoming a common problem but, this is the second time they have replaced a part on my machine with it being out of waranty. I broke an axle when it was about 2 years old and they sent a new axle out. Its good to know that a company stands behind its product in todays world. I heard a nightmare story about a person with a 3 month old Honda that wouldn't go into 4 wheel drive. The dealer told him that it wold be around 6 to 8 weeks before he could get him in. The guy actually took the machine to an Artic Cat dealer and paid to have it fixed.

I'm happy to hear you had good luck. I sent a letter and copy of the bill to A.C. yesterday and am planning to make a copy of this forum for the dealer. I will let you know how I make out.
Thanks for the reply.

I had to send the vin number to AC and they said they would contact the dealer. Only problem is that was 2 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything. I will give them until Tuesday and call again.

I got a call from AC on Thursday and a rep told me they were going to credit my dealer for the part. I still have to pay labor but am happy with the results. My machine is 5 years old (out of warranty) with 775 miles. The problem now is when I spoke with him it seems he wants to swap for oil changes and garb because things are slow. I will stop by in person and "visit'! Thank you AC!
