2003 400 automatic foot brake
#1
Does anyone know how to disconnect the electrical sensor from the foot brake. Im trying to take the footrests off to powder coat but I cant figure out how the sensor switch comes off the bracket.
The manual says to disconnect the harness - which I cant find a connection to do. Beside to sandblast, I want the sensor switch out.
Do the two side screw apart or do they need to be pryed apart?
Help please.

There should be two little plastic clips that have to be pinched and it allows the sensor to slide out.
I have given up on powder coating and just gone to some good marine grade paint. My frame gets sand blasted from the beach I drive and nothing has lasted long. As is I have to touch up the lower frame and a-arms yearly. I have a bad combination of saltwater and sand.

thats actually not a bad suggestion. I've been blasting the foot pegs for two days and cant get them to bare metal anyway - which would make it tough to powder. where do you buy the marine paint? any recommended brand?

I get mine from my local marine supply store. I do not have any left right now but it is something or other Spar enamel. It is very thick does not require a primer but is about $45 a quart. Which usually lasts me about 2 years. I use matte black color to match the rest of the frame. Plus it can be applied to wet metal and dries quickly.
My original powder coating peeled off of sheets the first year I owned the machine. Seemed like one little scratch and rock chip an it rusted underneath and peeled off. I did not sand blast it though. I sand it lightly and coat it with Os-Pho OR Prospheric Acid. It eats and disolves the rust. Then I paint after wards. It has worked well for me.
I will add that I tried rustoleum paint and it did not last 6 months. It wore off pretty fast under my riding conditions. It might not for others and it was considerably cheaper.
