arctic cat eletrical problems
#1
I have a 03'arctic cat 500i with 1362 mile on it.It recently started blowing the 30 amp starter relay fuse. It seems to me that you have to run it for a while before it does this.Anybody have any ideas or have the same problems?

Both my 03 machines (400 and a 500TRV) have had similar issues in the past blowing that fuse. My 400 has actually done it two times.
Mine would blow when you turned the ignition key to the ON position. I could still pull start but the the electric start would not work.
In the first case I found a short in the wiring harness us under the instrument POD and right at the base of the steering column in front of the fuel tank. Seems a wire was pinched between the frame and some plastic when it was built ant if wore through and shorted out.
The second time it happened on my 400 I finally replaced the starter selenoid (out of frustration) and my problem went away. I had already ruled out a wiring short after MANY hours of looking the wiring and connections over.
A suggestion I would make is to get a cheap tube of dielectric grease and as you check for shorts at the connections coat them with the stuff. It keeps them from corroding and gives you a better connection.

Thanks for your input swampyjunior, im leaning towards the same item. None of the other fuses on the fuse block has ever blown. After looking at the electrical diagram yesterday, im kinda of ruling out a short because it happens after riding for at least 30 minutes before this happens. Thanks again!

When talking about electrical problems, I have an 08 650 H1 and i noticed after alot of 4 wheeling with water and mud that when i try to switch back to 2wd it sounds like it's flipping back and forth like it won't just go straight in, has anyone ever had that problem?
