Lockin front wheels.....thumbs

Niteowl just told me that he has now put the Locker procedure for the 400/454/500 models in the "review" section of ATVMasters.com. While you are there, could you check out the forums??
I have tied my cat off and spin all 4 tires. I didn't dig 4 holes, but more like 4 moonshaped ruts cause I was working my cat side to side trying to find traction. With my claws I find that the front diff is alot less effecient cause of the extra traction. It goes in to 3wd alot more offten with my clas.

Boner,
Hey thanks for the directions to the info on lockin the front end. I guess that would be great if you were in the mud or snow all the time and the front end could slip. I was more thinkin about some kinda retrofit that would allow you to get 2wd 4wd limited slip and then 4wd lock. Yeah, I know I don't want much hugh? Well that would be nice. I don't understand why the manufacturers don't have it. I guess it's just to hard on the drive train if it is left in lock all the time. I would just want it for those rare times when "I" need it. 95% of the time 4wd is enough. The problem with that retro is the fact that you have nothin else but 4wd lock. Did I read somewhere where Suzuki had a system with all three?

Hold it just a min. the sp500 says it is a true 4x4, but it has to have at least 15% slip before it engages from 2x4 to 4x4! The ac 400/500 has a limited slip dif. so it is a 3x4 until the front loads or slips enough to become a 4x4. So they both have to slip to go into true 4 wheel drive!
Here's the way to lock the ac dif. any time you want to lock it just keep on the throttle and tap the brakes it will lock the dif. untill you let off the throttle, the dif. will also lock on its own with the right conditions.

All AC's have Suzuki drivetrain. The AC300 has the Suzuki King Quad front Diff with differential lock. The differential lock just has to be connected by a linkage. However the other AC's require shims to replace the cone washers or the addition of 6 screws into the carrier to achieve differential lock. Go to ATV Masters for instruction.
