Anybody got Titan 489's

Dirtpig:
The 489's come stock on the 'Cats. The 400 and 500's come with 25x10x12 all the way around, while the smaller 250's and 300's have smaller tire sizes, both in heigth and width measuring from front to back. Overall, I think the 489 is a great all around tire, for varying terrain. Keep in mind though, they are an 'ALL AROUND' tire, and not specific to one certain type or riding style, like mud for instance. They do alright in the mud if it's not very deep, but don't clean out very well. If mud is your thing, maybe look at the 589's instead-they are basically the same design, with the exception of every other row of lugs missing, if that makes any sense. Not sure how else to describe them. The 489's seem to last well, but they're only a 2-ply tire, so I'd highly recommend putting in some slime, or cabela's tire x-tend, or a similar product. I had a flat on mine once, which the tire x-tend curred right up. Never had another problem after that.
For a comparison, I swapped to a set of 27" Bi/Tri Claw tires on my 'Cat, and kept my Dad's 'Cat stock, with the 25" 489's. My Dad's 'Cat can go nearly everywhere mine can go with the larger 27" meats, with the exception of deep mud, snow, and other steep inclines where the extra ground clearance is needed for crossing larger logs. Basically what it comes down to is that with the 27" tires, I have a few more inches of ground clearance (3.5 total) over my Dad's stock 'Cat. The added ground clearance, combined with the deep lugs of the 'Claws allow me to go through deeper mud holes, and very deep snow, of which the stock 'Cat can't follow. In all other conditions, the 489's work great, and can follow nearly everywhere else you'd want to go.
Sorry for the length, hope that gives an idea of what to expect. Keep in mind these are just my own observations of how they work on my machine. Others views may vary depending on riding style and conditions. Best of luck!
