Default arctic cat 2000 4wd/300 cc

I have a 300 arctic cat/2000 yr model...
My problem is that the machine will only move in super low range...
Ths shift lever...bottom left works ok....it will engage in med and hi range, but the machine will not move in those ranges...
I shift to low range....shift lever all the way in and the machine moves..
In the other two ranges the rear wheels are locked up and will not turn...
Any thoughts on what the problem may be...
Thanks
Ted

Sounds like you may have an issue in the sub transmission. I would pull the left hand side (if you are sitting on it) engine case off and check to make sure all the gears and shift collars were operating properly. Do all the gears work fine in super low range? It sounds like possibly the medium and high ranges are being engaged at the same time, which could cause them to bind up. There is also a gear that slides onto a splined shaft in the sub transmission and if not splined correctly, the oil hole wont line up, which could cause it to seize to the shaft, however if it hasnt been apart recently, I wouldnt suspect that unless the oil hole got plugged. Were you riding it when it happened or did you shift to low range and when you went back the other ranges werent working?
