12's on front
#1
I just picked up the 01 500 manual to replace the one that got stolen(no ins.), and I am going to start putting the goodies on it and was wondering if anybody has put 12" wide tires on the front? I will either go with the 27" Mudbugs again (1500 hard miles on them with min. wear) or 28" mudzillas... Thanks Bill

Might want to update your signature.
I do not recomend the 12" wide fronts to you. I don't think it would be worth it for you to increase the steering effort like that. You can run them with no lift or spacers with a VERY VERY slight rub that is almost unnoticeable if you do choose to run them tho.

Yeah, your stock rims will work fine. I've got the 27" Bi/Tri combo on the stock AC rims, they fit great. The only time you'd need to buy aftermarket rims would be if you wanted two sets-one for stockers in the summer time, and one for your heavier mud tires in fall and spring. Oh, the 'Claws are 9.75 wide up front, and 12 wide in the rear-fyi

I am worried about putting 2 different width tires on the same width rims, That would have to make them different hights which on hard pack or pavment that would be like running 2 different gear ratios and sooner or later will cause damage to the differentials or the tranny. Anybody say no ???
The electrix shift works well when it works, They (Cycle Country) are having problems with the linkage on the cats and are working on a new design and should have it ready in May or June.. The company is great,If you have any problems they send the repair parts right out..
The 28" tires are 10+ pounds heavier than the 27'show much of a difference do you think that will make on the bike ? ...., Bill

I'll tell you when I get my Tri-Claws mounted back up on my cat with factory wheels.
About the widths, that can be adjusted with psi in the tires if you want to. I see no need for it though, I see TRX 300;s running the same size tires all around when they have different gear ratio's front to rear. So I don't see how it could hurt the cat.
