02 arctic cat30 4x4 engine locked up

Default 02 arctic cat30 4x4 engine locked up

I have 02 arctic cat 300 4x4 was riding and got stuck and engine cut off took it home and it sat up 8 or 9 months didn't have time to mess with it got it out the garage the battery has been dead I always had to pull start it and now the pull cord as locked up....took sparkplug out and looks like there is some rust when looking in the hole...sprayed penetrating oil In the spark plug hole and let it sit couple days still n luck...any suggestions???

Was the exhaust under water when it died? Sounds like it must have been for the cylinder to have rust in it. You may have to pull the head and take a piece of wood and peck on the piston to try to free it up. Sometimes this works, but really if you have to do that probably might as well bore it and put a new piston in. Check the oil to see if it has water in it as well. Hopefully not. If you dont want to pull the head, then just keep shooting penetrating oil in it every day. Also, take the pull start off of it and put a socket on the nut holding the pull start "basket" looking piece on. Might be able to take a ratchet or breaker bar and slowly try and work the crank around be sure and keep plenty of penetrating oil in the cylinder if you manage to break it free and run the piston up and down several times slowly. Before sticking it back together and trying to start it. Let us know how you make out.
