posting for a buddy,09 trv700 and the brand new battery dies over nite,this is battery number 2.Dealer sold him new battery and battery tender,but if he leaves the charger off it drains in 24 hours,anyone know what this is or heard of it before

 

Is atv charging ok? voltage regulator/recfiter may have an bad diode an causing it to pull voltage back of batt.

 

i did'nt get a chance yet to put my meter on battery to see if it is charging proper?
...So if regulator/rectifier has a bad diode this could cause battery to drain over nite?

 

Yes it could cause battery discharge over night..this is just one place to start with..You also could unplug regulator/recfiter to see it batt stayed up also..just trying to help get started on problem

 

I am not familiar with arctic cats,is the rectifier/regulater in the same place as on polaris sportsman(close to top of rad on frame under front plastic) and I assume it looks pretty well the same,small black box with lots of wires
Hopefully this weekend we can use this as an excuse to spend some time in the shed,have a few wobbly pops and do some trouble shooting on it.will post back when I find out more

 

voltage regulator shouldbe retriangle shape with air fins on it for cooling..the black box prolly ignition brian called cdi or ecm.. voltage regulator should have plug connector type..no wires..the harness plugs into it..prolly on right rear side on frame or under seat..just guessing on location tho..prolly bout an 4 inches by 5 inches in shape.Good luck

 

I've heard you can add water to some batteries.Not sure if that is problem or not.Worth a try.
