2015 blowing belts
#32
So i ended up bringing the belt to a friend of mine that works on them at the dealer. didn't really find anything "wrong" changed the bearing in the cover and cleaned the clutches took them apart checked everything.
Got it back went for a 20 mile ride (all just back roads) got home can smell burning belt already the cover is reading 240 degrees and the exhaust port at the end is 205 degrees. To mean boiling water will burn your skin at 212 degree's so i really don't see how the cover should be 240.....
both intake and exhaust ports have been cleaned.

Did your buddy check the clutch surfaces for being even and true? Their is not much left. Sounds similar to skidoo sled last year guys were blowing belts in upwards of 2 or more a day. I think the local shop started finding defects in the surface and machined down the faces and added a shim and problem solved

They ended up replacing literally the entire clutch system inside and out.
turns out though the cuntrifical clutch inside was bad and tore the drum it up it rides on, artic cat gave the dealer all new parts as part of a good will program. Still paid labor, but they said i didn't use the correct oil.
Suppose to use an oil with clutch additives, since there is a clutch internally

The oil has zero effect on the performance of the actual running there is a wet clutch similar to a motorcycle inside. That's what actually tore up on mine. If Polaris used just universal oil can almost bet it was wrong.
but also a chance that's why the guy traded it in. It took 50-100 miles time it would destroy the belt. I almost just traded mine.... slap a new belt and sell to a dealer they would never know.....but I obviously didn't
