Help on My AC500
#11
I had the same thing happen to me on my 2001 manual, only it was the rear tire brake side. You should get your dealer to talk to the a.c. tech people.I had a new right axle replaced,no problem.
So you can tell your dealer this has happened before.

I talked to the dealer and he was going to look at one on the floor and get back to me after his mechanic got back from lunch. I don't really see anyway to replace them on the front hubs. I may be wrong I just can't see how to do it without a hub replacement. The studs seem to be integral parts of the hub or axle. That should be an easy fix then if you don't have to pay for it. I'll keep working on it.

Dakotart:
Just talked to another mechanic and he said that it is possible to replace the bolt. He said that they are pressed in but that you can get them out. He said that you can take the tire off, remove the plastic cover of the hub exposing a 30mm bolt, take the bolt off and the hub will fall off in your hands. Knock the old bolt out and replace with a new one. The kicker is that the bolt has splines just below the pan head that fit the grooves in the hub. The mechanic told me that the bolts are not individually shown on the microfiche that the dealers have so if they haven't ever fixed one before they don't know what they are doing. Sounds optimistic except I have to convince your dealer of what my mechanic told me. My mechanic worked at the Arctic Cat dealership in Corsicana for ten years so I don't doubt his competency.

This happend to my 00 manual rear brake side also and the dealer put it through under warranty. He gave me the axle and I knocked out the studs and installed them in the other axle. Looked like alot of work to swap the axle.
