Default Nut thread size ?

Does anyone off hand. know what size the thread is for the main nut that holds the rotor on.. the part number is 3423-086.. I am missing the nut and have to clean up the threads on the threads of the shaft. So I need to know in order to clean them up . Shipping cost 3$ more than the nut so I am hoping to go get a nut from.the hardware store..

only spec i could find is 5x10... you can take the old one to a decent suppler and they will be able to tell you what it is

That alternator case looks exactly like the Eiger, so I would guess Suzukis will use the same nut if you have a Suzuki dealer near you. I have a feeling it isn't just an ordinary nut, flanged or something, not worth risking a loose flywheel for the $3 extra postage. I used a thread file to clean up the outer part of the shaft (pull start thread) when I chewed it up trying to get a tight flywheel off.

Thank you.. I ended up ordering the nut through my local artic cat dealer. He tagged the order on with a order he had placed. That way I didn't have to pay the shipping. 9$.. Which was more than the nut.. it does have the flange but it's nothing special. With the exception it's a 1.5 pitch. I wanted to buy a die to clean the threads. But think I will have to go with the file.. the rotor/ flywheel was stuck on so bad. That we ended up having to cut the center of the old one in sections. I heated it so many times that I didnt want to ruin anything inside. Once we got it off we noticed that it had slipped up against the key. Which was why it wouldn't come off. the key wasn't machined at the right spec so it had room to move. The mechanic at our shop use to be a motorcycle mechanic. He said that was one of the toughest things to bust loose... but it's off. Now I just have to get it back up and running...

Been there, done that and got the chewed up thread to prove it. We bought an aftermarket flywheel for the Eiger/King Quad and it had a tin shroud to stop the magnets coming off and jamming in the stator.
