What altitude are you riding CatSass? I've heard a few people notice better performance at higher altitudes, compared to those at lower elevations. Also, as cat3608 mentioned, if you ride in warmer climates, try that CR8E plug-it does make a bit of difference, that's all I run now.

Best of luck,

Mike

I could'nt help but add a line in about the K&N and the foam, A friend of mine runs a bike shop and is an avid builder of race bikes. I cunsulted him about what to run for a filter he set me up with a K&N and a UNI foam panel to lay over the K&N. He suggested using the foam oiled with a product called FAB filter oil which will also work on the K&N. I also installed a SUPPETRAPP IDS2 race pipe which I'm still working on the right configuraton of discs and jetting for my AC 400 4x4, i'm jetted now at a 145 main with 11 discs . [stock main was #150 and to rich!] Anyone with any mod. info would be great to hear.

Hey catsbark, I was thinking of changing my jetting to a smaller size. If I understand you correctly you dropped one size and added a pipe and it is not to lean. I would have thought that the pipe would have required a larger jet. Please confirm as it will make my decision to re-jet at least one size smaller a whole easier. My 400 is stock other than the K&N filter. I have played with the needle settings but it was a comprimise. I also set the idle jet to the factory min and that really helped. I felt all along that the bike was running rich as it is hard on fuel and does not grab its RPM,s as fast as I think it could.

Cheers Jim

Jim I thought the same also, so I first purchaced a #160 main jet& installed it and had big flubber on top RPM . I talked to my buddy and he said that with more efficient air flow in and out of the motor will also increase the fuel flow so I went back to my stock #150 still flubber on the top. Now i'm at #145 and need to go run it real good before I can make any further adjustments such as raise the needle which effects 1/4 throttle to 3/4 throtte. The pipe seems to help out alot if you can deal with the added noise, I knew from the start that the stock pipe was a major restriction that would account for using a larger main jet. I'm not sure if I like the vaccum accuated carb. or not yet, it seems to be a little slow on throttle reaction . I've noticed that there is another jet in there that must control the vaccum differental for the slide.Alot more to learn! Later for Now

Hey Cowboy, sorry for taking so long to respond but I've been doing a lot of riding lately and then my Computer crashed a week ago.Just getting things going again now.I think we are at about 1000ft. here in my neck of the woods.I have not done much in the way of changing heat ranges in the plugs but I have got a CR7E plug in my tool box (NEW) as a spare so I will try it.Some were mentioning about an 8 too so I will see how the 7 works first.Later Eh!!!
