Recently purchased an AC 400... love it so far except... the master cylinder sticks or is slow to return. Brake light stays on either until I manually return the hand lever or "pump" up the cylinder.

Have checked fluid... full. Silconed the piston, worked for awhile, but back to same problem after several days. Dealer says "there may be a problem". Anyone else had this problem and what did you do to correct it?

Thanks for the input!

It;s a very common problem on the steel resivors. There is supposed to be some kinda kit for 2002 that fixed this-- but It's only a rumor I heard. No comformation yet.

Same prob. here also on the 400. I have heard that changing
to the plastic master cyl. will solve this prob.

This problem didn't start till I put on the Moose handguards. They work fine and the brakelever is very loose and easy to move. One dealer says warranty will cover...other says might be a problem.

These plastic reservoirs.... AC item or aftermarket?

Thanks again

The plastic one is Cat made by wilwood.
I had brake problems with my 00 500 and they said it was because I had the plastic cyl. with the new brake calipers, They gave me the parts (cyl, lines, calipers)and I switched all of the brake parts back to the old stuff like my 98 and they worked good.
Now I have the 01 and having problems with the brakes (sometimes they work and the lever is slow to return) and Cat says to use the old plastic type, which is what they said was wrong with the 00. Go figure... Glad I don't have to pay for the parts... Bill

There will be a owner notification (recall) according to my dealer. Ther is a kit that will be installed in your mastercyl. I have not heard a date for the recall yet.

My '01 400 4x4 just started this same issue - the master cylinder piston sticks, slow return. I've never received notice of recall, anybody got any new light on the subject?
