ELK HUNT
#1
I'm back on. Had some problems with my password and could'nt log on. Finally changed it all.Elk season started out with a bang,8:15 opening morning ended my hunting with a 5x5. Not big BUT GOOD EATING.Wish all that wanted to come up this year could have made it.The boy got a spike the same evening. Now I've got my deer to get.

Hey Jim, good to see ya back!
Just returned from elk hunting myself, though not QUITE as happy as you. We did get a nice 5x5 on tuesday which sounds very simliar to yours-not big, but a nearly perfect rack and a small body by my standards-still a nice bull though. Ended up getting a cow on saturday as well, but again, it wasn't MY shot-I never did get the right angle through the thick timber. OH well, it was still nice to get two animals in camp and actually take some meat home for the freezer (we help each other out during the hunt, help with all the chores involved, then share the meat)-though a full shoulder won't last me all that long-I need my protein! Anyway, Best of Luck with the upcoming deer hunt. I'm off again on Nov. 13th I believe for the late whitetail hunt back in Pullman-hopefully I'll find another nice buck like last year-I know my freezer sure hopes so too!
Take care,
Mike

Hi Mountaincat-glad to hear of your success. Were you up the St. Joe, and if so how was the take up there this year. I hunted other years up Big Creek and around Marble Creek, stayed up north this year.
Got to go out for my deer as well, planning on a bow hunt at Farragut (SP?) part this weekend.
