have you heard this?

I heard of a recall on some 02 500m, this is a very limited #. Something with the frame. Does anyone know of anything? I'm kind of curious because I have the first one that my dealer got in, so it would be an early one. But I don't know for sure. If I find out I will let you all know.
I think Boner works at a AC dealership maybe he could be some help (hint hint). It may be just a rumor too, but I got it from a good source.

Yes I've heard of the switch recall or service bulletin. I think the dealers charge on that is .10 hour, so it must be pretty simple. I don't mean customer pays but AC pays dealer to fix it.
I couldn't find anything out on the frame yet. I'm going to try to get to me dealer tomorrow and see what I can find out.

On a few 2002 500 manuals there was an incorectly welded a-arm mount. I'll make a copy of the recall noticed tomorrow and bring it home with me.
The brake light switch is a VERY simple fix. Just gotta bend the tab that engages the foot brake light switch forward alittle. It should have about 1/8" between the switch and the part that presses on the switch.

On Green 2002 500 manual shift ACT models, with VIN. numbers rangeing from:4UF02ATV12T206459 through 4UF02ATV42T207010, There is an upper a-arm frame brakcet that is either missing welds or is welded incorrectly. If you have an ATV that fits this criteria, bring your ATV in to your dealer for inspection. They have some paper templates to fit onto your bike to see if it is correct.
The solution to the problem if it is found, A NEW BIKE!! I think thats a good trade off, don't you guys??

Well I got the call back from my dealer. My quad is in the recall. I have to take it in next week to have it checked out. He said he would get another green 500 ready. They switch everything on the old one over to the new one for no charge. I have 748 miles on mine, and had it since July 20. The new one will have a new six month warranty.
I am real surprised that they would replace the whole quad rather than the frame. My dealer is too, he called AC just to make sure of all the details. But he moves another off of his floor plan. He wanted me to bring it in today, but I am going riding this weekend (hehehe).
This just goes to show Arctic Cat is serious about their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. If the goverment had made them do this I'm sure we would have read about it in some rag first.
I'll keep you posted.
