I have a 2000 400 4x4 and was a little disapointedin the begining, but I have since added a Dynojet kit and the bottom end is quite different. When my bike was stock I tried adjusting the pilot andthe needle setting and had good results on the bottom but lost my top end. The bike now pulls good at all ranges. The first thing I noticed was when starting the bike cold I used to have to use the choke and it would not take any hard throttle until it warmed up. But now now from cold it takesright off.

Cheers Jim

I HAD a 400I and traded it because it had VERY low power. I ride with several others with similar sized bike (displacement wise) and the AC 400I is no match for ANY other 400 that I have seen. ALL other 400's would easily spin the tires in deep mud, but the 400 would stall in the same hole. Especially when I added 26" 589's. I even traded the 26" 589's for 25" 589's because the power was so bad. with 26" tires, I rode almost the whole day in low range. The 500I is a totally different animal... it's power is far better suited for the bike's weight. If you want a bike that rides great, but dont want to get extreme then the 400I is a great bike. If you want a tank that will go anywhere try the 500I. But they ALL will get stuck. Got mine stuck at 7.5 miles... Got the 400 stuck at 3 miles...
