A buddy of mine just bought his 1st new wheeler, an AC 250 4x4, possibly an 01 or 00 (it was a leftover at the dealer). Since it was new he's had several probs with it stalling/missing. We went riding a few wks. ago and it kept stalling on hills and mudholes. He says it is because Arctic Cat doesn't have a fuel pump and when the gas gets 1/2 empty or on a hill, it starves for gas and quits. This does not sound right to me. I told him I would check w/ you guys for some info. Any info appreciated.

Have him check the gas tank vent line, to make sure it isn't clogged. Ours seemed to get hard to start and died a lot until I adjusted the valves. There is a hose coming down by the right rear tire with a plug in it. I recomend moving this line to where it is less prone to getting this plug knocked out.

even if its a left over ,it still has a warranty , return it to the dealer , tell him what its doing , sounds like what mudcat said , also check the drain on the carb see if theres water in the bowl , but ours did it and it was the gas cap , the tank is a foot highter then the carb it dosent need a fuel pump I dont think I know of a quad that has a pump come to think of it , but if it still under warranty return it first , just my opinion

Thanks for the info. He has a crappy dealer in NC that says there was nothing wrong w/ it. He had the valves adusted once already. I've never had one w/ a fuel pump either.

He should go back to the dealer and make some noise. Also contact Customer Service at Arctic Cat. I have a 00 300 4*4 that had a backfiring problem. It took repeated visits to 3 different dealers and numerous carburator adjustments to get the backfire reduced. In my experience I was very disappointed in the service from AC head office. If it wasn't for the mechanic at the third dealership I would have sold the bike.
