It says to inspect the CVT every 500 miles to clean out debri and dust. If you take the cover off will that bearing in the cover come off with it. Has anyone had any everperience with this on the 500's or the 375's.

Just took off the cover last Friday to both check the belt and to blow out the dust. I was a little worried about the cover bearing needing to be greased. Minehunter and the dealer agreed that it does not.

Here's what Minehunter told me:
"The bearing is a roller bearing. The blue ring just pops out if you use the point of a pocketknife or some other sharp tool. It shouldn't need greased, but if it ever does just pop the cover off and use about a finger tip full."

One last thing the gasket can be a little tricky to get in place so an extra pair of hands could be handy.

TG1, I guess it all worked out for you then on the cleanout. Glad I could be of some assistance.

The only time I would really worry about the bearing is if you get into some muddy water and it enters the case. I would definately clean it out and put just a dab of clean grease in the bearings.

Minehunter,
Everything did work, taking the cover off wasn't that bad of a job. Like I said above the positioning the gasket so it wouldn't slip out of place was the only tricky part. Thanks again for the help.
