Help need advice on AC 375

I hat to say it but if I was getting a 400 class machine I would get the Eiger hands down. I looked at it real close the other day and really liked it. It had everything I want in a quad simple non electronic do-dads, great power so I hear, better mud protection than the Cat for sure, manual tranny and low range. The only thing it lacks is rear disc brake, I think I could live with that. The best thing is that you can get the Detriot Gearless locker from Highlifter for it. They don't make one for the Cat and probably won't.
Now if we were talking 500cc quads it would be a different story. But I like the Eiger, I would get the manual.

I guess it depends on what you want to use it for. Towing or lower speed riding with a more comfortable ride... get the Cat (Heavier frame, independant like rear end). If you want something quicker to get to the top end and sportier ride... get the Suzuki (Lighter frame, solid rear end).
Both have the same engine, but the Suzuki you do have the option to get the 5spd.
Ride'm and see what you like.

There is a good magazine article comparing the Eiger and the AC375. Go to www.atv-mag.com. The article is in the March/April 2002 edition. Both are rated very well, but they seem to feel that the 375 has a pronounced roll-over effect from the long travel front suspension. It will be interesting to see if AC addresses this issue for 2003. The Eiger is bettter balanced and more stable. But the AC has better ground clearance and rides better through bumpy trails. I would test ride both bikes and also evaluate dealers re: customer service and attitude.

I was at a Suzuki dealer and he told me that all the Eigers have been recalled due to a crankshaft problem. When I asked why I hadn't heard anything on my 375 he promptly told me that they were different engines and that they only have about 60% same parts (Can anyone say BS!). I know early on there was a crankshaft problem but this dealer told me complete production had been shut down. If this happened shouldn't Cat notify all the 375 owners? Anyone else heard this or have any info?

I have heard the problems with the nut on the crankshaft on the Eigers. Nothing yet on the Cats. The only recall that I am aware of on the Cats is the pressure switch on the brakes for a certain range of manufactured bikes.
My wife's just happens to be one.

I had to add Dot 4 to my reservoir; the brakes were feeling really mushy (wonder why). Anyway is this pressure switch different than the master cylinder recall (were they had to drill a small hole)? Tomorrow I plan on calling my dealer and asking them to check into the crank recall.
