Bigdcred, they do have a snape ring on the end of cv axle, sometmes you need a small pry-bar on either side of the housing. But be careful not to break the gear housing. They make a cv axle puller which will make it easy to work with. You did take your outer cv axle out of the front hub? Do not forget to check your front wheel bearing, now that you got it all apart. I hope this will help. try (brownsleisureworld.) it will give you a layout of all the parts.

What my dad used to do on our old Kind Quads was to take a piece of chain and wrap it around the axle so it won't slip off. Now the chain needs some good weight to it and it needs to be long enough. Now yank that sucker off. The chain's weight should be able to do most of the work. This is how we did it and never a problem. The Arctic Cat maybe different.

Hey,bbertram, how's your cat doing, have they fixed it yet? I am interested to hear how that rear axle came out seeing that Bigdcred is having trouble taking out his front axle. Was the snap ring missing?

I don't have all the proper tools to take my rear end apart so I'm going to let the dealership fix it all. I would imagine the snap ring got really hot or something and just broke. I was driving through some thick mud for a while that day and it was only a matter of time with big tires and offset rims. Or it was a weak part from day one. Who knows.

Anyways the quad is still broke down but it goes to the dealership on the 24th for ball joints, rear diff, axle and it needs re-jetting. Then I pick it up on the 29th and go watch some MX racing and the 30th and 31st I go break beaver damns and go river riding. Its going to be a blast if the quad is all fixed up. My dealership better pull through or else I'll be very pissed at them. I'll give everyone an update with pictures from the MX racing, river run and beaver damn breaking.
