Auto Cat....finally
#1
I finally laid eyes on the new Auto Cat 500.It was still in the crate but at least i saw it.Was starting to think it was only an urban legend.None of the other dealers in the area has had one in yet. The dealer promises to give me a call on tuesday so i can take a spin on it.He gave me a price of $6150 plus tax.Retail is $6599. Of course I will have to wait for a red one before i plunk down the green$$$$$$

I am not sure where the 2wd/4wd selector was. The machine was in a crate with the left side up against the wall.I do believe it should be on the same side as the Suzuki's....correct.If it has one that is. The dealer guy said it did not have an option to shift in and out of 4wd. I looked all over the 2000 AC brocure and it does not say anything about this one way or another. It lists the tranny as Auto belt,High,Low and Reverse.Nothing about switchable 2/4wd. I was supposed to go ride one today but i had my shifts switched at work this week so i will not be able to ride it yet.Another week won't hurt i guess.

Sorry Mike, but no selectable 2wd/4wd on the 500cc AC.It is entirely in 4x4 mode all the time and is limited slip as well.I hear it is really a bear to steer on a long trail ride.I dont know that to be a fact though.I just been told that by alot of owners.-----BILL

Bill,
We are talking about the Arctic Cat 500 AUTO.
Acording to Atv Magazine's test on the Arctic Cat 500 AUTO, it has not only selectable 2wd/4wd, but it supossible has "True 4wd". Here is quote from the ARCTICall
"The Cat-omatic also gets a new front differential. No longer limited to simply three-wheel drive, this 4x4 gets a new torque-sensing front diff that will actually lock all four wheels in motion if needed."
Arctic Cat 500, Be careful when you pet this Cat

I had my new ATV Magazine sitting next to the computer as i sent in my reply about switchable 2/4wd on the Catomatic. It does indeed have this feature which makes it all the more interesting to me.
