I have an 02 300 4x4 and I bought it because I didn't want to spend a bunch, and didn't think that I needed a big bore. Boy was I ever.......RIGHT.... With the 3 ranges I can't see myself ever getting a big bore.

The thing has a ton of torque and is great for trail riding. It's not for everyone though. The acceleration isn't to great. But for me, I don't care about that.

Well, I must be the newest kid on the block...Just bought an 03 250 AC 2wd with a Warn 2000 on the front . I use this puppy to work on my property and to haul deer out. I've owned Honda's and Yamaha's and just as everyone else has commented on, my AC isn't going to win any speed races. But, with the winch and that low gear, I've pulled 2 Hondas (Recons) out of trouble. Naw, it ain't a 600 by any stretch, but it's paid for and it's reliable so far.

I agree guy's I was riding with a couple of guy's this weekend and I was not the leader of the pack. But when it came down to the nitty gritty, who was in front when it counted The cat. The other guys had a 300ex and 96 banchee. they sure ripped it up but when it came down to getting thru the mud and up hills with mud, well we all know who had to help them up... I love this thing. Take the speed and and thorow it out. I'll take the torque anyday. Besides when you are going that fast, you can't enjoy the senery.

HI Guys ..new to this forum ...but finding it very interesting ..I've got a 98 300 cat ..and also did the front locker mod ..but was wondering what way you guys managed it? I just took about 2 cm off the sleeve on the shifter cable at the diff to give more travel on the cable and then repositioned the shifter arm on the splines..the other option was to change the length of the shifter arm but I didn't fancy cutting and welding parts, seeing as I'm over in Ireland and have to order parts from the US, I'd rather not screw up on modifications . By the way Artic cats are very rare over here..right now mine and my mates 454
are the only two I've come across ..I'm sure I'll find myself recycling suziki parts ...no worries still knocking fun out of my Cat ....
cheers Delboy ....

I have an 01 300 4x4. This thing is a blast. It is my first ATV, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I am very interested in how you guys modified your 4x4 so you would have a "lockable" front diff. Can anyone explain it in detail (with pics if possible). I went to ride my cat yesterday, and come to find out I can't shift into 4x4! Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Does anyone know how I can fix it?

Before buying my cat I read a review which said if you don't have the money to buy a Hummer, then you should get one of these ATVs.

I personally think it will go places where a Hummer can not...

Great Topic,I am not an AC rider, but I to feel alone around here sometimes with my Quadrunner 230.No rear suspension, but that keeps my speed on the trail in check.I drop that mule into low range and it'll pull with the big boys.I hooked my utility trailer to it and put the back seat to the K-5 in the trailer and took my Yankee cousins for a ride around my friends farm.No 250 utility is a rocket, but they will calmly put a breeze in your face. And like someone said,I can put it in low range and let a youngin' scoot around.I hate to sound like a "redneck",but a day with the 230 and some copenhagen a few buddues on a trail is hard to beat.Later
