Neutral Light Burnt Out
#1
I noticed on an earlier post that someone was talking about the need for a diode when using a winch on the 2000 Cats. Does anyone no where this information came from. My neutral light stopped working today, and the bulb is not replaceable.

When I got my winch kit from my dealer he gave me a different power lead to run into the fuse block from the solenoid. I believe it had the diode on it -- I'd have to look to be sure. Anyway he said that there had been trouble with the previous winch wiring burning out gear indicator lights. This is a problem Arctic Cat knows about and the substitute lead is supposed to address it. Haven't had any trouble with mine. Hope this helps.

Do they make the indicator lights differently for the 2000 models? I have replaced the 5th gear indicator bulb on my 99 500. Its kind of a pain to go to the trouble, but it is simple for the 99. The bulbs were like $1.50 for a package of two at an automotive store. No burnt out lights since then about 800 miles since.

Yeah the lights aren't replaceable they switched to a circuit board with leds on it. The light might not be burnt out, on mine it is the 2nd gear light, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, I think it has something to do with moisture getting into the circuit board. Yes after the start of the winch program Arctic came out with a new wiring harness that includes a diode to prevent frying of the indicator lights. I never did try to warranty mine, only 4 months old. They claim to have fixed the indicator lights for 2001.
