Hi All
This has nothing to do with AC but I need to make a statment/Question. I live in Ontario Canada, near Kempville. I enjoy riding my AC 400I and have been doing so every weekend. There seems to be a problem when the snow flies, there are tons of trails here with rail bed that is a main rout to everything even my club. Now, when the snow flies the snowmobile clubs [two clubs] take over all the trails and tells the ATVs [who have more members] to stay off or you could get find $100. The snowmobile clubs only argument is that ATVS tare up the trails. My club has tons of trails that are groomed and open for snowmobiles. I went out last weekend and came across some snowmobiles, the guys just cleared at me, one did a cat walk right beside me as I waived? I was on my clubs trails? at one point I was parked at my ATV club house? We are having a rally today and are going to be shown where we can ride, with a supper and bon fire, nice. My statement is there are tons of trails for all and I think clubs should work together. My question is do you experience the same in your area?

Here in Maine sledders act pretty much the same way.

Riding both atv and sleds the atv's really do tear up the trails and there is nothing nicer than a groomed trail. Also the atv's are slower. Sleds can only use the trails in winter and when covered with a thick blanket of snow. Atv's can ride whenever they want all year long so I think it is fair to let them have the groomed trails. Anyway...how come you don't have a sled? After a few miles on it you will have your own answer to your post. Your really missing out on a lot of fun cussing at the Atv's!

Agreed clubs should work together but being an owner of a sled and an atv i have to agree with OberstOswald completly, I barley ride the sled compared to the time I can put on the wheeler, so when riding the sled it is nice to be on groomed trails without ruts from the 4 wheelers.

To the best of my knowledge as long as you possess a current trail permit there is nothing the snowmobilers can do to keep ya off the trails. I would contact the local trail authorities or even your MPP. We have a similar situation in northern Ont where ou hunt club has split the cost of building a bridge across a small creek . This bridge allows us access to our hunt camp but is also on a major snowmobile trail. Our arguement being if we paid for part of the bridge we WILL be allowed access to the trails. If you want to get reallyt ballsy ride the trails, get fined and fight it in court lol. Im willing to bet if you have a valid permit that you will win your case.

at least you people have good groomed trails,,, here in nothern NB they groom once in a blue moon and when the trail is hard the atv dont make ruts anyways,,,, i say lets share the trails and with all the money the clubs would make by sharing the profits from atv and skidoo passes they could afford to pass that god D%$#@M gromer more often to get rid of the ruts,,,, ,,, PS when went for a drive yesterday ON THE SKIDOO TRAIL, and it was a great day we drove about 45 miles and we must have met about 200 atvs druing the day! I know for a fact there was no organized rallys either, i swear we only saw about 10 skidoos ,, so i think here in nothern NB the skidooers are out numberd,,,, i have a like new Vmax 4 and i love the thing,, but i have to say that i rarely drive it,,, it just costs to damn much to run,,,, but i have to admit that there isnt much that can replace the thrill of going 80mph in 4 foot deep snow heheheh but still atv will rule i think and there will be alot of changes to the ATV/skidoo relationship in the near future, because atv out number the sales to skidoo 3 to 1 here if not more ! I WILL NEVER GET OFF THE SKIDOOTRAIL,,,, its is the highway here and it is just too damn fun,,, plus if there would be any gards or trail patrol stop,,, who will realy stop anyways,,,, i say catch me if you can! ehehehehehe yahooooooo

Why are you guys fighting each other on trail usage?
I can gaurentee if you put up a big stink to your mp about the sledders not letting you use the trails
you can be expecting to lose them all!! They don't have time to worry about petty squabbles between
quadders and sledder's so they will just do what they are trying to do in alberta, which is shutting all trail access down! I don't mean to offend anyone with this post, but we have to put our diffrences aside and all work together. I use our trails out here for everything from sledding, quadding, dirtbiking, horseback riding, hiking, 4-wheeling etc, and I'd go crazy if the only place I could ride would be in my 10acre plot, just beacuse I couldn't get along with someone that rides a sled.
Just my .02

wel said,,, im not saying that we dont get along, but i am saying that if we were to put all the members together ,atvers and skidooers, we could have a lot of money to groom the trails and to pass the groomer more often! and better yet build the bridges that wee need when the spring thaw comes so the groomer can still pass!!!!!

Ya I think we should all work together, I know my ATV club worked about a month opening our trails so we all have room. I think the problem is three are four guys in one sled club trying to hold on to glory days. It is getting stupid though, during last summer I was following a trail, in to that clubs area and someone put a wire across two trees and hid it with branches. It was definitely a trail, and there was no signs posted??????? I do know for a fact that we have paid for half a bridge that will open some eyes and maybe get all parities to one table to talk, I hope. We had a great rally on Saturday 40 ATV two Sleds/ hope next time there are more sleds. ATV out number sleds 8-1 in this area so I think it would be nice to see more trails available to ATVs soon.
